Nichole and Greg Holmes met Price, Richard and me at West End, Grand Bahama. We cleared into the country and then all went for dinner at the marina. G&N were kind enough to invite Richard to stay at their house in Freeport for the night and take him to the airport in the morning.
The following day G&N came back to see us on the boat. Greg stayed the night and Nichole returned to Freeport for a night out with friends. The following day Greg helped us sail the boat to Port Lucaya. He and Nic have extensive experience with catamarans and he knows the local waters well. We left West End at 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Port Lucaya at 2:30 - a 5 ½ hour sail. Greg was telling us all about the different parts of the island along the way. Nichole met us when we arrived and took us to their house for dinner. We were joined by their friends Jack and Lisa from Vernon, BC.
Sunday Nichole and Greg spent the afternoon walking us through all the Bahamian charts (which they were kind enough to lend us). We also managed to tackle a big pile of laundry. Our washer/dryer on Panache is very small (European size) and you can’t put much in. That night was dinner at Jack and Lisa’s house. Monday, Nichole was nice enough to drive me around to pick up new sim cards and last minute provisions. Greg helped Price on the boat (yet again).
We can’t thank Greg and Nichole enough for all the help the gave us in Freeport and in Ft. Lauderdale.
